The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) in Nigeria has purchased new transformers and meters for effective power distribution in its zone of operation.
The company’s move is intended to address the problems of incessant power outages.
JEDC head of public affairs Paul Ikwu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) the company was worried about customers’ complaints over incessant power outages, saying it was due to obsolete facilities.
“I wish to assure our esteemed customers that very soon, our new transformers and metres will arrive to enable us carry out major repairs at places where there are series of breakages,” Ikwu said.
“We are out to make profit and we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that our clients get the best services though the drop in the power supply is a nationwide problem.”
Ikwu noted that the JEDC does not generate electricity but only distributes what was available to it, and the problems of gas shortages and activities of vandals were affecting both the production and distribution of power throughout the country.
