In the wake of controversies surrounding the purchase of Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 245, additional new corruption charges have been filed by an anti-graft agency at the Federal High Court, Abuja against Royal Dutch Shell Plc and Eni for allegedly making corrupt payments in the sum of $801 million during the acquisition process of OPL 245 in 2011. A former Minister of Oil in Nigeria; Dan Etete and his company; Malabu Oil & Gas Ltd have been alleged to be the recipients of these ‘corrupt payments.
