Sahelian Kano DISCO unit Kano Electricity Distribution Company (DISCO) has taken delivery of seven newly constructed 33/11KV injection substations from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
Manufactured under the Nigerian National Integrated Power Project (NIPP), the substations include 2×7.5MVA Gongoni Challawa, 1×7.5 MVA Radio Kano, 2×7.5 MVA Farm Centre, 2×15 MVA Rijiyar Zaki BUK, 1×7.5 MVA Wudil, 1.7.5MVA PRP Brigade, and 1×7.5 MVA Dakatsalle, National Mirror reports.
NDPHC managing director James Olotu said the projects represent another milestone in the effort to enhance power supply in the country.
Sahelian Kano DISCO managing director Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna said the projects will boost the voltage quality and customer base.
”We are hoping that the generation capacity from now to next year will increase to 6000 megawatts,” Gwamna added.
Conceived in 2004, NIPP aims to improve electricity supply in Kano State, Nigeria
