Following the sale of the countrys treasury bills by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to mop-up excess liquidity in the Nigerian financial sector as well as the subsequent revealation by the CBN of its plan to sell dollars to businesses (particularly manufacturing companies, airlines, fuel importers and agriculture the country’s interbank lending rate has increased from 5% to about 20%.
