The federal government has commenced consultations with the stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to re-activate Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCO)s exploration at the Bonga oilfield. An estimate of one billion barrels of oil is expected to be produced from the Bonga project and about US$10billion is expected to be expended.
In view of the above, SNEPCO and the Federal Ministry of Environment have been urged to implement their mandate for the sustainability of the project and also adhere to the principles of integrity and transparency in carrying out the project.
