The Bill was read for the second time in the Senate on the 27th February, 2020 and has been referred to the Senate Committee on Gas to report within four (4) weeks.
The bill as part of its objectives seeks to stop gas flaring completely owing to the environmental damage on the Niger-Delta region. It is aimed at creating a substantive legal framework for the prohibition of gas flare and provide sanctions for breach.
