The Bill was voted on, passed for second reading on the 18th of February, 2020 and referred to the House Committee on Ports and Harbor.

The bill is aimed at amending the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria Act, Cap, C54 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004; and for Related Matters, to ensure the efficiency of cargo movements in Nigeria and to free the ports of congestion. The original Bill which was passed by the 8th Assembly did not provide for the registration of trained members and this bills has covered that omission and will ensure standard and sanity in the freight forwarding sector in Nigeria once passed into law.
