Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) of Nigeria has commenced gas production at Gbaran-Ubie Phase two (2) following the success of the first (1) phase of the Gbaran-Ubie integrated oil and gas development in the Niger Delta, commissioned in June 2010. It is expected that the peak production of Gbaran-Ubie Phase two (2) would be 864 million cubic feet per day of gas and 26,000 barrels of condensate per day; and a peak production of around 175,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day is expected by 2019.

The commencement of gas production at the Gbaran-Ubie Phase two (2) would further strengthen gas supply to the domestic market and also help sustain the supply of gas to the export market.
